The minutes of the March 22, 2017 meeting were approved.
Treasurer’s Report: There is a balance of $25,536.92.
Correspondence: Invitations were distributed to all schools and invitations were mailed out to the retirees. If anyone is planning on retiring, please let Dave Cieplicki know.
Contract Update: The School Board should be signing/ratifying the contract at the Board meeting on April 27. We are anticipating that the membership will receive a retroactive payroll check for the 2015-2016 fiscal year at the end of May and another check mailed home after June 30 for the 2016-2017 fiscal year. After the retroactive checks are received, if anyone has any questions, you should contact Kevin Cartotto at the Board Office.
May 24th DEA Meeting: The Superintendent will be attending the May 24th DEA meeting. There will be no direct personnel questions addressed at that time. Questions to be asked will be discussed at the May 10th DEA meeting.
RICE letters: The Board sent out RICE letters, which notify employees that the Board will be speaking about them at a meeting. The person receiving a letter can attend the board meeting, but cannot go into a closed session.
Flash Drives and Contract: Flash drives with the contract were distributed to the DEA representatives. The flash drives contain the contract so the reps are to give the drives out to the members in their building so they can make a copy of the contract.
Summer Leadership: NJEA Summer Leadership sessions will be in August (dates to come). Anyone interested in attending, please contact Dave. Registration is paid by DEA. This is very worthwhile, especially for new representatives.
Negotiations Workshop: There is a workshop on May 9th at Glenpointe in Teaneck regarding negotiations.
Thank you: Motion passed to purchase a half page ad to be put in the Twin Boro News thanking the community for their support. Also will put a ‘thank you’ on Facebook.
Dumont Day: Discussed having a table at Dumont Day in September.
DHS Representative: DHS needs another representative for the DEA. If interested, please let Dave know.
Curriculum Night Payment: For those who submitted slips for last year’s curriculum night, vouchers have been submitted to the Business Administrator. Payment should be $62.40. Please review your checks, as it will be on your payroll check.
The next DEA meeting is Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 3:45 in the DHS Faculty Room (located on the parking lot level by the cafeteria entrance).
